GoModelo.com

The Challenge

As Mexico's leading producer, distributor and marketer of beer, Grupo Modelo offers an extensive selection of merchandise bearing some of the industry's most popular brands including Corona Extra, Negra Modelo, Modelo Especial, and Pacifico. This merchandise — which includes footwear, apparel, barware, signage, coolers, umbrellas and more — was available online through a variety of websites managed by vendors across the country.

Grupo Modelo engaged Clock Four to create a robust B2B eCommerce site that would gather all of this merchandise under one virtual roof and deliver a universal buying experience.

The Solution

Clock Four's initial task was to familiarize ourselves with Grupo Modelo's broad product lines and how the existing websites categorized, presented and promoted them. Then we audited the sites, studying how customers actually searched and shopped on them. We used our findings to re-categorize all of the company's merchandise, create shopping "paths" based on actual customer behaviors, and design engaging new page templates for GoModelo.com.

To ensure that the site's users enter the right channels when signing in (gaining access only to products, pricing and information applicable to them), Clock Four built GoModelo.com’s customized technology platform. We also added an enhanced browsing capability that enables customers to locate merchandise by brand, category or vendor or by using the site’s new filtering features.

Since eCommerce is the focus of the new site, we integrated powerful shopping tools including Pinnacle's shopping cart feature, chosen for its outstanding security and seamless functionality, and a new “Recommendations” tool that presents customers with merchandise suggestions based on their selections. In addition, the site features a high-impact promotional module that helps distributors leverage the site more effectively for their individual marketing initiatives.

Another benefit of GoModelo.com is that it offers Grupo Modelo an improved administrative experience, making it easy for the company and its vendors to manage and promote product lines, upload images and post product updates, monitor inventory levels, approve users, track orders and run reports.

GoModelo.com was launched in late 2011 with Clock Four providing ongoing technical support.
